Working within the guidelines of the Foster Comprehensive Plan, our goal is to add economic and lifestyle value to the entire community while helping retain the rural character of our town.

Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Land Trust is to preserve some of the natural resources of Foster for present and future generations. Property set aside for conservation adds to the value of the entire community and helps retain the rural character of our town. Our desirable property list includes open space, streams, ponds, working farms, wetlands, significant historical properties, scenic, and natural sites.

Goals:

Working within the guidelines of the Foster Comprehensive plan, in order to protect the natural resources of Foster for present and future generations, add economic and lifestyle value to the entire community, and retain the rural character of our town, the Land Trust goals include:

  • creating a linear park system, or Greenway, with possible trail linkages for hiking, equestrian, birding, and other passive recreational activities;
  • preserving working farmlands;
  • protecting sensitive environmental areas from development;
  • locating areas suitable for both conservation and passive recreational activities.
