Spencer Property - Detail of the Pot Luck Trail

The Pot Luck Trail is a blue-blazed trail near the entrance to the Spencer Property off Old Danielson Pike. You can access this trail from the far end of the dam, or next to the bench on the Ponagansett River Trail (yellow-blazed). Follow the blue blazes over the dam to the west end; the trail enters the woods there. It starts out wet and almost swampy in the mud season. It then becomes rocky as it snakes through a glacial boulder deposit. As you gain elevation, the trail gets smoother until you get to Pot Luck Rock, the highest point on the trail. The trail then continues down through another rocky area and comes out at the bench on the River Trail.

The trail is listed a "medium difficulty", and the hike time is about 15 mintues. There is a cutoff trail just before the bench that travels along the pond's edge and come out about 100 yards further down on the River Trail. Be aware that this new trail, while not very long, has some rocky sections and small stream crossings. See map below.
