Vital Records Requests

The following vital records may be obtained from the Town Hall:

  • Birth: Births after 1960 can be obtained from any town hall in RI. Prior to 1960, the record will only be in the town the mother resided in at the time of the child's birth.
  • Marriage: Marriage records can be obtained at the Foster Town Hall IF the marriage license was taken out in Foster either because the bride resided in Foster or the marriage took place in Foster. 
  • Death: Death records for Foster residents will usually be returned to the town IF the death ocurred in RI. If it ocurred elsewhere they may or may not have been forwarded to Foster. Please call ahead if there is a question.

Note: Divorce records are not kept at town halls but must be obtained from Family Court.
