How can I get a temporary or emergency restraining order?

You must go to Family Court to obtain a Temporary Restraining Order.  This order is placed in effect against an abuser who is related to you by any of the following: marriage, blood, you have had children with, you or the abuser are under eighteen and for the past six months have had a significant dating and/or engagement relationship.

You must go District Court if you are both over eighteen and have had a dating relationship in the last six months.
