Fuel Assistance

Fuel assistance is available to help households in financial crisis facing heating issues.

Funding is provided by civic and private donations, and grants.

Residents must apply for heating assistance through LIHEAP and GNEF, if eligible.

  • LIHEAP (home energy assistance program) is processed through Cranston Community Action Program.  If you have been on the program in the past, renewal applications will be mailed to you in November. New applicants can apply at the Foster DHS office.
    • This program usually runs from November through April.
    • All grants must be used before the end of June or you will forfeit any remaining funds.
  • GNEF (Good Neighbor Energy Fund) is available to households that are above the income guidelines for LIHEAP and therefore do not qualify for that program.  You must be able to demonstrate a financial crisis and be able to provide documentation of need and eligibility.  Applications are available through the Foster DHS office.
