Foster has an Animal Control Ordinance regarding dogs. Dogs must be under restraint which shall mean:
1. On a leash;
2. Kept in an enclosure;
3. Kept within a vehicle;
4. Kept within the property limits of its owner or keeper;
5. When walking with a person and not on a leash or lead but under the verbal command of heel; or
6, Kept within the property limits of another person with that property owner's permission. Hunting dogs including hounds, bird dogs and retrievers in the process of training, or when in legal pursuit of wild game in season, are considered under restraint.

Nuisance dogs and dog bites should be reported to the Foster Police Department at
401-397-3317 so that they can be referred to the Animal Control officers.

Every dog in the Town of Foster must be collared, have a current rabies shot, and be licensed. Licenses will be due in April and must be renewed every year.

Please schedule rabies vaccinations far in advance due to
the current shortage of veterinarian services.
