How can I get a burning permit?
A burning permit is required for anyone to do open burning in the Town of Foster. The law allows the burning of brush during the daylight hours. The State DEM Division of Forest Environment issues a classification based on the weather for that day. Classifications range from Class 1 (safest for open burning) to Class 5 (extreme danger). Usually permits are issued on only on Class 1 or Class 2 day. The classification for the day is announced between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. Permits can not be issued until the classification has been determined and are only good for the day of issue. You cannot obtain a permit in advance.
