Maurie Dunbar Acres

causeway bank

The Maurie Dunbar Property is located on the west side of Cucumber Hill Road across from Pole #4-50. Off-street parking for 2-3 vehicles is located next to the “Maurie Dunbar Acres” sign.

This property consists of 17+ acres and features the Gorham Farm Pond bordered on the east by a grassy causeway and dam. The causeway is easily accessible and is an ideal place to walk, sit, picnic, fish, or launch a kayak and canoe. Ducks, geese and other wildlife are attracted to the pond which makes it a favorite of birdwatchers. An unmarked trail around the south edge of the pond leads to other fishing areas where Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Sunfish, Perch, Pickerel, and Catfish can be caught. This pond is not stocked with trout.

The northernmost part of the pond is located on private property so visitors are requested and advised to be aware of and respect the property line. Please note that a line of buoys was placed across the pond at the north end. Please respect the property of others, and do not cross this line.On the east edge it is bounded by a stone wall and on the west side the trail ends in a brushy area and a “No Trespassing” sign is posted. (See map posted below.)
