The Department of Public Works provides services to the community in the following areas:

**Please call the DPW at 401-702-5011 if you see a pothole on a town road that needs attention, and it will be addressed as soon as possible.

Waste Oil Collection

The Department of Public Works would like to remind everyone that the Department will gladly accept your waste oil from when you change the oil in your car, tractor, or lawn mower. The furnace in the DPW garage is able to burn waste oil for heating so by dropping off your waste oil at the garage you will not only help to protect the environment but also save the Town money on energy costs. Oil can be dropped off at the DPW garage on Foster Center Road anytime during the day (before sunset, please). We only ask that you deliver the waste oil in a sealed container with your name on it and place it in the small shed located to the right of the DPW garage doors. The shed is clearly marked “WASTE OIL"

2009 Road Maintenance Project soon to begin

The five year road plan was updated in 2009 and the Town will soon be going out to bid for the 2009 road maintenance projects. Thanks to the Federal Stimulus monies flowing into Foster, we should be able to get quite a number of miles of road repaired. The following roads are first on the list for resurfacing work; we hope to be able to get them all done this year:

Howard Hill Road – essentially the entire length will be resurfaced from just south of the Town House all the way to Plainfield Pike in Moosup Valley (approximately 4 miles).
Briggs Road – approx. 0.6 miles.
Johnson Road - from Harrington Road south to Moosup Valley Road (approx. 1.5 miles).
Paine Road - the full length from Danielson Pike to East Killingly Road (approx. 1.5 miles).

We hope to begin actual work on the roads sometime in August or September.
